The Plan.

Ultimately, cruising. We want to sail out of The Heads of Port Phillip and turn left. Queensland? Tasmania? New Zealand? Who knows?

In the meantime, sailing on the Bay, a weekend at St Leonards, the Jazz Festival at Queenscliff, maybe dinner at a restaurant in Docklands or Geelong.

Our Approach

Our Story.

Karen and I (Tony) run a Civil Engineering business by day and by weekends we try and devote as much time to sailing Sagacious as possible.

I have been sailing dinghies all my life and in an attempt to get Karen more involved we transitioned to trailer-sailers for a while and then we bought Sagacious. We love her size, her turn of speed, her warm cabin, and her sexy lines.

There was a little tidying up to do, but the joy of raising that main for the first time, unfurling the genoa, shutting down the motor and sailing away was something that I will always remember. She sailed beautifully, like you would expect from the classic design.

We graduated from the ORCV Safety and Sea Survival encouraged, enlightened and exhausted. What a great course. Thank you very much to the volunteers Noel, Robin, Neville, Simon, Matt and the rest of the crew. A lot of important information very well presented.

Our Story

Meet the Crew

14 September 2019. We sailed the Navigators Challenge Race. The Start time was 12:00 Saturday at RBYC and finished 9:00am Sunday at HBYC. The idea was to sail as many nautical miles in the 21 hours around designated marks. Tactically, finding the best wind on The Bay and sailing the fastest points of sailing. The conditions varied from light winds until midnight when a change came through giving us up to 30 knots right up to the finish.
